A yellow weather warning of wind is in place across South West England including Somerset tonight until tomorrow morning.
Storm Aileen, the first storm to be named since this seasons names were released last week, is expected to bring very strong winds with gusts of 50-60 mph tonight and into tomorrow morning.
The Met Office’s chief forecaster said:
“Gales and local severe gales are expected to arrive in the west of the region later on Tuesday evening and move eastwards overnight. Heavy rain will be an additional hazard, especially in the north of the warning area, resulting in especially difficult driving conditions.”
The warning, affecting Devon, North Somerset, Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Cornwall, is valid from 20:00 tonight (Tuesday) to 10:00 tomorrow (Wednesday).
