Philip Knighton receives good citizenship award

Our very own Philip Knighton received recognition for his services to Community Radio in Taunton Deane at the Good Citizenship Awards ceremony on Wednesday 23rd April 2014 at Deane House when he was presented with a certificate to commemorate his nomination for the prestigious award.
Philip was nominated by his fellow Volunteers at Apple FM due to his dedication and commitment to Community Radio in Taunton Deane, being a Volunteer Presenter & Director at Apple FM here in Taunton and also a Volunteer Presenter at 10 Radio in Wiveliscombe, even whilst fighting one of life’s hardest battles.
Philip had to go through a second bout of Chemotherapy in less than 12 months and STILL was determined enough to continue working as much as he could on getting Apple FM up and running before and after launching whilst being treated at Musgrove Park Hospital through both a Day Case & Inpatient stay – even asking to be disconnected from medication drips for short periods of time whilst in Hospital so that he could attend very important planning meetings aimed at getting Apple FM launched! His dedication to and belief in the goals of the Organisation and to the Volunteer Management team was truly inspirational and it is more than fair to say that without him, Apple FM may not have even got on air. We are truly humbled at his spirit & determination and his belief in Community Radio’s ability to touch local people in a way that will benefit them more than any other form of media.
