Taunton Town FC Anticipate Martyrs Test

The Peacocks will be seeking their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions when they host table-topping Merthyr Town in the Calor League at the Viridor Stadium this evening (15 April), kick-off 7.45pm. The Martyrs are level on points with Cirencester Town but sit in top spot by virtue of having a better goal difference and also have a game in hand. Town narrowly lost the reverse fixture 1-0 in October which was the first league game played on the Welsh club’s new 3G pitch.

Manager Leigh Robinson remarked:” The game comes at a great time for us and we’re all looking forward to it. It’s a no pressure match for us in a way so we should play with freedom, express ourselves and enjoy the challenge of going toe to toe with the champions elect.” The cut-off date for cautions counting towards a ban has now passed, meaning Rob Norrish and Owen Irish both return, with Irish set to start as Jamie Price is away attending a funeral.
