The Fire Service were called to a report of a property fire on Waterloo Road, Wellington at 13:20 today (Wednesday 31 December). Local appliances were mobilised to the incident. Before crews got on scene a nearby fire fighter requested the attendance of 4 pumping appliances due to the nature of the fire.
On attendance the crews located a fire in a semi detached building. The first floor was well alight, crews got to work with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one covering jet.
Crews shortly increased equipment to 6 breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two safety jets, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.
Once the fire was extinguished crews got to work salvaging and damping down. Neighbouring properties were cleared of smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
Fire investigation was carried out on scene.
