Appliances from Wiveliscombe, Wellington, Taunton and Bampton were mobilised to a property on fire in the centre of Wiveliscombe at 13:59 this afternoon.
The property on Church Street, Wiveliscombe was terraced and it was unknown if there were people inside the building at the time of call.
The Wiveliscombe appliance was quickly on scene and two firefighters wearing BA and using one hose reel jet starting attacking the fire. The fire was confirmed to be well developed throughout the property.
With the arrival of further appliances, crews started using 3 main jets backed up to a fire hydrant, with 4 BA wearers. A further appliance was requested, and Bampton was mobilised.
At 14:52 crews confirmed all persons were accounted for. There were 6 BA wearers at this time searching properties and checking for fire spread with thermal imaging cameras.
At 15:18 crews got to work with positive pressure ventilation fans on adjoining properties that were heavily smoke logged.
The incident is now scaling down and crews are damping down. The property sustained severe damage. The cause was deemed to be accidental but officers on scene are still investigating.
