The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across South West England from tonight until tomorrow morning.
Heavy showers along with localised hail and thunder looks likely to affect parts of southern Britain throughout this evening and overnight with some places affected more than others.
There is potential for surface water flooding causing localised disruption to travel especially due to the saturated ground.
The Met Office’s Chief Forecaster said:
“Organised bands of heavy showers and the odd thunderstorm, look like continuing to feed along the English Channel and then coming increasingly into parts of southern England as the flow backs more southerly overnight and at first on Monday.
5-10 mm may fall within an hour and perhaps 20-30 mm through the period in a few spots. The focus has shifted westwards through the day, and it’s not impossible that a further update might be needed overnight.”
The areas affected are likely to be:
Bournemouth, Dorset, Poole, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire
The warning is valid from 21:00 Sunday 10 January to 09:00 Monday 11 January.
