Yellow Warning issued as ‘spells of heavy rain are expected’

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across South West England tonight and tomorrow morning.

Spells of heavy rain are expected to develop across southern parts of England and Wales this evening and will persist overnight before clearing away to the South East tomorrow morning.

“Be aware of the potential for further localised flooding and disruption to travel” the Met Office has warned.

The Met Office’s Chief Forecaster said:

“A cold front is expected to move eastwards across the yellow area during Friday evening and night, before clearing during Saturday morning.

Around 5-15 mm of rain is expected to fall quite widely, with 40 mm possible over high ground – most likely across Wales and southwest England.”

The areas affected are likely to be:

Bath and North East Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Plymouth, Poole, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Torbay, Wiltshire.

The warning is valid from 17:00 Friday 29 January to 08:00 Saturday 30 January.
