Fire at Sedgemoor Services on M5

Three appliances from Burnham on Sea and Cheddar and the aerial appliance from Bridgwater were mobilised to reports of a building fire at Sedgemoor Services on the M5.

On arrival crews confirmed there was large amounts of smoke coming from the building and made pumps four.

An appliance and the water carrier from Bridgwater were mobilised and the incident command unit from Street.

Crews confirmed there was a fire in the roof of the building used as a restaurant and café area and got to work with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one safety jet.

Crews then made pumps six.

Two further crews from Weston-Super-Mare were mobilised to the incident.

16:08 Access to roof space gained, crews at work with one breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two safety jets.

16:20 This incident has been sectorised to one and four. The aerial ladder platform is in use in sector one and breathing apparatus is in use in sector four.

16:41 Good progress is being made damping down the hotspots with the fire now surrounded.

Crews are at work using two breathing apparatus and safety at height equipment to check the roof void. Positive pressure ventilation is also in use.
