Next month will see the the return of The Big Sleep Out.
The event, run by local charity Taunton Association for the Homeless, will see members of the public being sponsored to sleep outside for one night in order to raise valuable funds and awareness for those that are homeless in our community.
Last year’s Big Sleep Out, which saw 50 participants gather together at Taunton Town Football Club for a night under the stars, raised £7,500 and the charity are looking to beat that amount and get more people involved.
Taunton Association for the Homeless said:
“Although the night may show some harsh realities of rough sleeping, we do not wish to represent homelessness so the night will include some live music, food and hot drinks! Then when the night draws in, we will settle down into our sleeping bags and sleep under the stars.
Last year’s Big Sleep Out was a huge success, with 50 participants from the ages of 5 to 85! We managed to raise a fantastic £7500!
This year, we’d love to beat that and get even more people involved.
Everyone left with a very positive attitude and the amount raised helped Taunton Association for the Homeless a huge amount to provide even more accommodation for those at risk of homelessness. It is such a positive night with such positive outcomes!
Taunton Association for the Homeless would love for as many people as possible to join in, to bring friends, family, colleagues or come along alone and make friends!
We’re all in it for one reason – to help end homelessness.”
