Two fire engines from Taunton were mobilised to a report of a fire in a domestic property on Lyngford Road in Taunton at 02:16 this morning (Saturday).
On arrival the incident commander confirmed smoke and flames issuing and requested the attendance of two additional fire engines which were mobilised from Bridgwater and Wellington.
The fire was located on the ground and first floor of the property.
Crews got to work using 8 breathing apparatus, 1 attack jet and 3 hose reel jets, 1 safety jet, 3 ladders and a thermal image camera.
Western power were requested to attend to isolate the electrics to the property.
Crews got to work salvaging the property and putting out hotspots.
The fire was out at 05:19 and crews used positive pressure ventilation to clear the property of smoke.
The cause of the fire was accidental due to an electrical fault within a consumer unit.
