Clients and staff at the Taunton respite centre wanted to give something back to those less fortunate and signed up to the Shoebox Appeal, which provides boxes of gifts and toiletries to children in need at Christmas time.

They’ve already gathered a collection of shoeboxes and gifts, but would greatly appreciate any further donations so that they can send as many boxes as possible to this worthy cause.

Kevin Mellor, Manager at the Halcon Centre, said:

“We’re delighted to be supporting the Shoebox Appeal this year.

It’s something that everyone at the Halcon Centre can get involved in to make a difference to the lives of less fortunate children. Everyone has really enjoyed helping to decide what goes in the boxes and picking gifts to send.”

Spare shoeboxes or gifts can be dropped off at the Halcon Centre, Huish Close, Hamilton Road in Taunton by 9 November.

Gifts can include; dolls, stuffed toys, yo-yos, skipping ropes, puzzles, stationery sets, colouring books, jewellery, hats, toiletries and wrapped sweets with a best before date of at least March 2017.
