Three fire appliances from Taunton attended a commercial building fire at Viridor, Crown Industrial Estate, Priorswood, Taunton at 10:31 this morning (Friday).
Upon arrival crews confirmed smoke and flames issuing.
Crews then requested a further appliance to attend, which was mobilised from Bridgwater.
Crews also requested a Water Bowser and Aerial Ladder platform to attend.
Crews confirmed there to be a fire within a single storey commercial building, crews got to work with three main jets and one safety jet together with two breathing apparatus.
At 10:50, crews on scene requested a further appliance, in total five to attend, this was mobilised from Wellington together with a Command Support Unit from Wiveliscombe to attend.
Crews continued to make steady progress with the main seat of fire, and numerous seats of fire being extinguished.
The Fire involved 80 tonnes of recycling products containing paper, plastic and cardboard.
At 14:30, crews confirmed the fire involved machinery and waste material, 60% damage to the building by smoke and 20% by heat, 100% damage to machinery and approximately 5 tonnes of waste by fire.
Crews used six breathing apparatus, three main jets and one safety jet, together with compressed air foam (CAFS).
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
