A yellow weather warning of wind is in place until later this evening (Tuesday 6 June) across South West England including Somerset.
The warning states:
“Strong to gale force west to northwesterly winds will affect many areas today. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are likely with isolated gusts close to 60 mph possible over coasts, hills and locally inland where heavy showers occur. Expect some localised transport disruption with some trees perhaps uprooted. Large waves and spray will affect some coasts.”

The warning, affecting Cornwall, Devon, Bournemouth, Dorset, Plymouth, Poole, Somerset, Torbay, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Swindon is valid from 10:00 to 22:00 on Tuesday 6 June.
