Dog show to raise money for third MRI scanner at Musgrove Park Hospital

Dog owners across Somerset are being invited to enter their furry companions into a local dog show and help Musgrove Park Hospital get a third MRI scanner.

The Companion Dog Show is taking place on Sunday 18 March from 10:30 at Oake and District Hall, near Taunton.

It’s being organised by the Taunton town centre Sainsbury’s supermarket, which named Love Musgrove as its official charity partner for 2018.

With just under 30 categories ranging from pedigree classes such as best puppy dog and best veteran dog, to novelty awards including waggiest tail and most appealing eyes, all creatures great and small are invited to take part.

Judges will also hand out awards for the best dog handlers in the county, for primary school age children, those in secondary school, young adults and people over 40.

Only dogs that are undocked or legally docked may be entered into the show. Dogs that have been docked on or after 6 April 2007 cannot be entered.

Liz Ladd, clinical service manager for Musgrove’s medical imaging department, said:

“We are very grateful to Sainsbury’s for putting on this show and I hope as many people as possible and their four-legged friends are able to take part.

We’re on track to raise enough money for a third MRI scanner at the hospital, but we still need that extra push to get us to the million and events like this will go a long way to helping us achieve the target.”

The cost is £2 per entry.
