Chance to win private Glastonbury Festival Tour at Age UK Somerset Birthday Ball

Age UK Somerset is holding a Birthday Ball at The Rookery Manor, East Brent, on Saturday 10th November 7pm-1am. The event is being held to celebrate the local charity’s 70th Birthday and to raise money to enable them to reach more local older people in need and provide vital help to enable them to enjoy later life.  In other words it’s a Big Night Out to Make a Big Difference – making life better for older people in need in Somerset and North Somerset.

Attendees to the Ball will be greeted with a welcome drink before enjoying a three course dinner followed by live music from The Blues Others (a spectacular 14 piece band guaranteed to get even those with two left feet onto the dance floor), a fun Casino, an auction with some great lots to bid on, a raffle and some surprises through the evening.  To help you get to the event coach transport is being offered from Taunton, Bridgwater and Weston super Mare.

For 70 years Age UK Somerset has been giving a helping hand when it has been needed. These days it provides services such as befriending to reduce loneliness, exercise sessions to help people stay healthy, and benefit claims support and other services to ensure that older people can stay independent.  Nearly 400 Volunteers play a vital role within the charity helping to provide this support, but with cuts to services, isolation due to lack of transport in rural areas, and an ageing population, services which are already very popular are going to be more and more in demand. Age UK Somerset is an independent charity who has to raise all it’s own funds.  Buying tickets to the Ball is a way to support the charity, and help them to meet this growing need, while also having a good time.

Not only will every penny raised go towards projects to help older people in the area who are struggling with loneliness, but one lucky ticket holder will win a “Trip of a Lifetime”!  Michael Eavis, arguably Somerset’s most famous over 60, has kindly donated a private tour around the Glastonbury Festival site (outside of the festival dates), with him in his land rover! This is a real money-can’t-buy experience and the winning ticket will be drawn out of the hat on the night of the Ball.

Tickets, which cost £45 or £320 for a table of 8, are on sale now and can be booked through the website https://www.ageuk.org.uk/somerset/get-involved/age-uk-somerset-birthday-ball-november-10-2018/    by emailing tickets@ageuksomerset.org.uk or calling 01823 345627.
