West Somerset Council is running a series of events to help promote the range of support available to businesses across the area.
The Business Breakfasts will take place from 8.30 – 9.30am at The Beach Hotel in The Avenue, Minehead, and are free to attend.
There will be guest speakers and an opportunity to network and discuss issues that are important to a range of businesses at each event.
The first business breakfast focussed on the theme of ‘Going Digital’ takes place on Wednesday 27 March. It will feature Kate Doodson from digital experts ‘Cosmic’ speaking about the latest digital solutions, from apps and systems that can save you time and increase your business efficiency to tips and tricks for digital marketing. There will also be an opportunity to find out more about free support on offer to West Somerset-based businesses to implement digital technologies.
On Thursday 30 May the theme will be ‘Developing Talent Within your Business’. Local businesses will explain how they are developing talent from within through developing apprentices of all ages. Paul Ruttledge, head chef from The Beach Hotel, will speak about their successful apprenticeship programme and Marie Howard from Skill Up will explain the support on offer to help businesses set up apprenticeships and develop the skills of their existing employees.
On Thursday 25 July the theme centres around ‘Hinkley Point C’ – Europe’s largest construction project on our doorstep. The Hinkley Supply Chain team will give an oversight of the scale of the project, providing an opportunity to find out what’s happening at the site and how local companies are getting involved.
Cllr Andrew Hadley, Lead Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration at West Somerset Council, said: “These events provide a chance for our business community to find out more about the opportunities available in the area and to learn from a range of successful local employers. Previous events that we have run over the years have produced some great outcomes for the people of West Somerset and I hope these Business Breakfasts are equally successful.”
The events are free to attend, and include a breakfast. To help with catering arrangements please register your attendance online through Eventbrite. Go to www.eventbrite.co.uk search using the location and meeting topic and enter your details.
