Taunton crews called to skip ‘well alight‘

Two fire appliances from Taunton were immediately mobilised following a call from a member of the public reporting a fire in a large skip in Thornfalcon at 18:08 this evening (Wednesday).

On arrival, the incident commander confirmed that one skip measuring approximately 4 meters by 2 meters, containing recycling materials was well alight and requested the attendance of a third appliance from Taunton to assist with water.

The fire was eventually extinguished using two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two triple extension ladders and one thermal imaging camera, with the assistance of a mechanical digger on site.

Once deemed safe, the incident was handed back to a responsible person.
