A yellow weather warning for wind is in place across South West England including Somerset from midnight until Friday.
The warning, which comes as ‘some strong gusty winds are expected’, states:
“Easterly winds will become increasingly gusty on Wednesday night and remain so through Thursday and into Friday.
Winds will be particularly gusty over and to the west of high ground with gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph widely and as high as 45 to 50 mph very locally.”
The Met Office has warned that some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely with some journeys taking longer. Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are also likely.
The warning, affecting Cornwall, Devon, Isles of Scilly, Plymouth and Somerset, is in place from 00:00 on Thursday 27 June to 12:00 on Friday 28 June 2019.
