The line-up for the Saturday night of Live in Somerset at Taunton’s Vivary Park has been announced.
Branded ‘Saturday Night Live’, the evening will feature the voice of M People, Heather Small and the legendary singer Lulu.
Heather Small, one of the most successful female recording artists of recent years, will bring ‘Saturday Night Live’ to a close and follow the legend that is Lulu, who will light up the crowd with her unique singing voice.
Heather Small is a multi-award-winning artist. As part of M People with hits including Search For The Hero, Moving on Up and One Night In Heaven, Heather became one of the seminal British voices of the 1990s. The title track of her Proud album has gone on to become the soundtrack to a whole host of special events including London’s 2012 Olympic bid, the 60th anniversary of VE Day in Trafalgar Square and the launch of Queen Mary 2.
Lulu last played Taunton’s Vivary Park with Jools Holland in 2007 and is celebrating 55 years since the release of her debut smash hit single Shout.
Some of her hits include her 1967 number one hit To Sir With Love and her collaboration with Take That on Relight My Fire.
Lulu released her first album in a decade, Making Life Rhyme, in 2015 which she co-wrote all of the original songs.
Earlier this year, Lulu performed with Take That as their special guest on all their Greatest Hits Live stadium and arena UK dates, performing at over 35 venues.
Heather Small and Lulu will be joined by Scouting for Girls, The Fizz and celtic rock band Skipinnish.
Following their appearance at Taunton’s Vivary Park in 2016, Scouting for Girls celebrated ten years since the release of their 2007 self-titled debut, a record that went on to become triple platinum and includes the singles She’s So Lovely, Elvis Ain’t Dead and Heartbeat. The pop trio released their fifth album The Trouble With Boys earlier this year.
Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston, three names that are iconic in Eurovision history, formed The Fizz in 2004.
All three are former members of Bucks Fizz whose hits include the number ones Land of Make Believe, My Camera Never Lies and the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest winning song Making Your Mind Up.
The Fizz became a four-piece with former Sweet Dreams member Bobby McVay and collaborated with Mike Stock on their 2017 album The F-Z of Pop.
The band’s new album, Smoke & Mirrors, is due for release next year.
Skipinnish, a traditional Scottish band from the Gàidhealtachd, were voted Scots Trad Music Live Act of 2017. Their eighth album, Steer By The Stars, was released earlier this year and reached number four in the UK download chart.
This is the second line-up to be announced for Live in Somerset.
Event organiser, LCC Live, confirmed in November that McFly will headline the Friday night, kicking the weekend off in style.
LCC Live’s event manager, Carlie Davidson, said:
