A yellow weather warning for wind is in place across South West England including Somerset starting later today (Sunday) until tomorrow morning.
The warning comes as ‘very strong winds are expected during Sunday evening and overnight and may cause some disruption’.
The warning states:
“Very strong westerly and then north-westerly winds are expected to affect parts of Wales, south-west and southern England during Sunday evening and again during the early hours of Monday, easing soon after dawn.
Gusts of 50-60 mph are likely inland and 65-75 mph around some coasts.
The very strong winds will be accompanied by heavy and often squally showers of rain and possibly hail.
Large coastal waves are also expected.”
The warning is in place from 18:00 on Sunday 8 December 2019 until 09:00 on Monday 9 December 2019.
