Cyclist struck by vehicle which failed to stop in Taunton

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help after a cyclist was involved in a collision with a car which failed to stop in Taunton.

The incident happened on 22 January at about 18:20 in Hope Corner Lane.

The victim was cycling from the direction of Corkscrew Lane across Kingston Road into Hope Corner Lane when a grey coloured SUV, possibly a Ford, approached the cyclist from behind.

The side of the vehicle struck the cyclist who fell to the floor.

The vehicle failed to stop and drove off.

The driver is described as a white man in his 50s with grey hair, who was wearing a blue jacket. There was a female passenger with blonde hair.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries but £700 worth of damage was caused to his bike.

Avon and Somerset Police said:

“The road tends to be busy at the time the incident happened and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area to contact us.

We are also appealing anyone who may have mobile phone or dash cam footage of the incident.”
