Taunton’s iconic Vivary Park gates have been damaged in what has been described as ‘mindless vandalism’ by Somerset West and Taunton Council.
The council was made aware of the damage this morning (Sunday) and said:
“Mindless vandalism at Vivary Park overnight where a section of the gates has been damaged and removed.
Please contact the police if you have any information that will lead to catching the individuals who did this to our beautiful park gates.”
Somerset West and Taunton Council’s chief executive, James Hassett, has been to see the damage for himself and it has been reported to Avon and Somerset Police.
