A new large vaccination centre for Somerset has opened.
A spokesperson for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust said:
“Today we started COVID-19 vaccinations from Somerset’s new large vaccination centre at Taunton Racecourse.
It was wonderful to see so many people from across the county come in to get their vaccine, and to witness the hard work of teams from different organisations come together to deliver it.
The large vaccination site will be open seven days a week, 8am – 8pm, to offer the COVID-19 jab to people in the highest priority groups including the over 80s and health and care staff.

The new large vaccination centre is part of a wave of ‘large’ vaccination centres opening across the country and will open seven days a week, 08:00 – 20:00 to offer the COVID-19 jab to people across Somerset, supporting the accelerated roll out of the local vaccination programme.
The racecourse will be providing vaccines for people in the highest priority groups including the over 80s and health and care staff.
