Taunton community comes together to ‘Be an Easter Bunny’

Local home care company, Home Instead Taunton, is celebrating the success of its Easter campaign. The company has collected Easter eggs for local people in need of support this Spring; particularly those who have suffered the most over the tumultuous year that has passed.

Based in Galmington, Home Instead provides home care services to elderly and vulnerable people across the area. The team has spent the past 12 months keeping seniors safe in their homes as they shield from the virus. The company launched a similar campaign at Christmas, asking local people to ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’, donating gifts which were then distributed to people across the area who may not receive a festive gift.

Taunton residents donated Easter eggs at donation points at Tesco Express at the Comeytrowe Centre and at St Michael’s Church. Clients and caregivers from Home Instead have also donated eggs to the campaign.

In true community spirit, the 130 eggs donated will be distributed to people across the area who are going through a difficult time, in the hope that the eggs help bring a smile to their face. Eggs are being gifted to many local older people living alone, as well as to the Open Door Homeless Charity, Taunton Women’s Aid and the YMCA.

Vanessa Munson, co-director of Home Instead Taunton commented: “We wanted to launch a campaign to bring some joy to people who may be struggling at the moment, having seen so much success in our Christmas campaign that took a similar format. It has been a tough year for so many people, and we have seen first-hand how difficult it has been for seniors having to shield; especially when they live alone.

“Thank you so much to our clients, caregivers and the lovely community in Taunton who have donated to our scheme. We hope the Easter eggs help bring some joy to people who are going through a tough time at the moment.”
