Christmas Sparkle Project 2021 WILL take place this holiday season

Christmas Sparkle was founded in 2015 with the aim of giving a Christmas present to every child aged 0 to 18 years living in difficult circumstances in the Taunton and Wellington community. Last year, despite the pandemic and thanks to the generosity of local people, Christmas Sparkle were able to provide gifts for over 500 children and young people.

They hope to reach more people as ,in 2019, they donated over 4,000 gifts to 1,600 recipients and are aware that there is a similar need this year. Sparkle work with local charities and agencies such as the Foodbank, Women’s Refuge, etc. and are proud winners of the 2019 Mayor’s Citizenship award. They work in partnership with My Day who collect gifts from donation points and deliver to agencies.

Christmas Sparkle donate only brand new age appropriate gifts which are generously supplied by local businesses, schools and members of the public. Wrapping events are held in Santa’s workshop throughout November and December. Members of the public are invited to these events and schools and local groups such as Scouts and Guides bring a group to help for an hour or two which makes it a real community event. Cheesy Christmas music and festive refreshments help to make the day fun for everyone!

All financial donations go straight back into the project. They are used for wrapping paper, gift tags and gifts for shortage age groups; typically 8-18 year old boys and babies. For more information, go to christmas-sparkle.org or search them up on Facebook, @Christmas.Sparkle.Project.
