Staplegrove Road resurfacing works to begin shortly

An essential resurfacing scheme on Staplegrove Road in Taunton is planned to take place next month.

Highways maintenance teams will be resurfacing 300 metres of road from just southeast of Westerkirk Gate, covering the Manor Road and Showell Park junctions, before finishing northwest of the Showell Park junction on the A358. The works start on Tuesday 9 June and are expected to take 10 working days.

Works will restore the road’s profile, protect its foundations and improve skid conditions and will be carried out under an evening road closure between 6.30pm and 11.30pm. During these hours, an alternative route will be clearly signposted.

Preparatory works are currently underway and there are signs on site to help road users.

Councillor John Woodman, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “It’s good that our fantastic highways teams can get on with their work while the roads are quieter at present.

“Although we’ve planned the works during off-peak times make sure that you plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.”
