HAROLD GIMBLETT TO BE REMEMBERED ON SUNDAY

A special church service will be held on Sunday to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Harold Gimblett.

The service of Celebration will take place at 3.00pm this Sunday at Bicknoller Church and will include contributions from Club Chaplain Rob Walrond and Club President Roy Kerslake. Former Somerset player John Harris, who made his debut in 1952 will share his experiences of playing along side Harold Gimblett.

There will also be some memorabilia from the Cricket Museum on display in the church.

Gimblett, who was born in Bicknoller is considered by many to be the greatest batsman that the County has ever seen. His Somerset career spanned from 1935 to 1954 during which he scored over 23,000 First Class runs at an average of 36.17. He scored 50 First Class centuries and 122 First Class fifties.
