Business boost for adult care providers

Businesses in the adult care sector are being supported to recover from the effects of the Covid pandemic thanks to the Somerset County Council Economic Recovery Fund.

Somerset County Council is funding the Care Sector Support Programme, which is supporting up to 50 local care sector businesses, providing them with help to identify issues around business resilience.

The care sector businesses will receive fully funded, tailored one-to-one business advice, industry specific webinars, and business skills development workshops, which will focus on strategy, finance, and management.

Ten of the businesses will be given further in-depth support to address issues that arise in the first phase of the programme.

The Care Sector Support Programme is being funded by Somerset County Council and delivered by the Somerset Business Agency CIC. The programme will run until the end of March but may be extended.

Councillor David Hall, Somerset County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Infrastructure, said: “We know adult care providers have been facing significant pressures throughout the pandemic, but this programme can play an important role in supporting these local businesses to helping them to prosper going forwards.”

A spokesperson for the Somerset Business Agency said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with SCC to be delivering this valuable initiative to help support the Adult Care Sector across Somerset.”

If your business would like to apply to participate in the Care Sector Support Programme, email care@sbacic.org or call 01458 253331.

The project is one of 12 schemes that is being delivered through the Somerset County Council Economic Recovery Fund, a £6m package of funding designed to kickstart Somerset’s economy as the county recovers from coronavirus.

The cash boost includes financial support for businesses, financial support for individuals, and a range of other measures to stimulate the economy.
