Enjoy NHS Big Tea Par-Tea in aid of Love Musgrove

AFTERNOON tea lovers from Somerset can get together at a farm shop in the county to raise a cuppa for the NHS as well as money for a Taunton hospital charity next month (July 2022).

Rumwell Farm Shop is taking part in the NHS Big Tea on July 5 to fundraise for one of its charities of the year, Love Musgrove.

Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, said: “We would like to invite afternoon tea lovers to come and celebrate everything great about the NHS at our Big Tea par-tea on July 5 from 3pm until 5pm.

“The event is an opportunity for people across the country to come together for an outpouring of love to thank NHS staff for the huge role they have played in all of our lives, more so in the last few years. We will be celebrating collectively to thank every clinician, nurse, support worker, hospital porter and paramedic who has put themselves on the line.

“We’re also raising money for one of our charities of the year, Love Musgrove, during the day, which is a charity funding things at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton above and beyond what the NHS covers. It helps to create a comfortable, engaging environment for patients that supports family and friends too.”

The NHS Big Tea will take place in the Rumwell café and will cost £19.95 for adults or £26.45 including a mini bottle of prosecco. Tickets for children cost £8.99. One pound from each ticket sale will go to Love Musgrove. The café will be decorated with table cloths, flowers and cake stands to really give the English afternoon tea feel.

“Booking for this event is essential and can be done on our website at https://bit.ly/3M7h9Ue.”

Love Musgrove also provides staff with training and development opportunities, including state of the art equipment, and enables wards to buy items to make patients’ stays more comfortable.

Musgrove Park Hospital serves a population of more than 544,000 people across Somerset with more than 740 beds, 34 wards, 15 operating theatres, a fully equipped imaging department and a purpose-built cancer treatment centre.

Dan Varley, Community Fundraiser at Love Musgrove, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting an in person Big Tea event with our partners at Rumwell Farm, celebrating the work of our NHS colleagues and the NHS’ 74th birthday! A chance to raise a cuppa and some funds for the excellent work we do at Musgrove Park Hospital and across the NHS in Somerset.”

Rumwell Farm Shop, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate in 1997.

Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as daughters-in-law Sophie and Donna.

Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. There is also The Rumwell Flower Shed on-site, a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar and Gift Room.

The Rumwell Café is a large and spacious building. The food prepared in the Café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.

Families are welcome to the Café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, Sunday roast lunches and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.

The NHS Big Tea par-tea will take place at Rumwell Farm Shop on Tuesday, July 5 from 3pm until 5pm. Booking is essential.
