Generous, green-fingered supporters opened their impressive gardens this Summer as part of St Margaret’s Hospice Care’s Glorious Gardens campaign, raising vital funds to support the hospice’s essential services.
This year’s Glorious Gardens campaign opened the gates to exquisite gardens across the county, which delighted and charmed visitors throughout the Summer.
Visitors enjoyed glorious weather as they took leisurely strolls and marvelled at the opulent flowers and superb landscaping in these beautiful gardens while getting top tips from gardening experts. Some hosts offered visitors the chance to enjoy a traditional English cream tea and scrumptious cakes in stunning surroundings in exchange for donations which spread warmth and cheer.
It was the 5th year Glorious Gardens, sponsored by Greenslade Taylor Hunt, returned to the county and the unwavering support shown by garden owners and the community to support the hospice was remarkable and felt by all.
Kerry Baillie, Community Partnerships Manager at St Margaret’s said: “We are immensely grateful to everyone of our wonderful garden owners and to everyone who visited these beautiful gardens across Somerset and contributed to Glorious Gardens this year,” Kerry said. “Your generosity has helped to us to raise £13,000 which will go a long way in providing quality, responsive care to people across the county who really need it.”
After the resounding success of this year’s campaign, St Margaret’s is eager to make next year’s Glorious Gardens even more spectacular!
The hospice is inviting garden owners across the county to showcase their horticultural creativity and share their gardening expertise by opening their gardens for them in 2024 to create a memorable experience for visitors and raise funds to support hospice care.
“Whether you have a quaint country cottage garden, a delightful courtyard or an expansive country estate with fantastic flower beds, we want to hear from you,” Kerry explained. “Opening your garden for St Margaret’s can make a meaningful impact in your local community and helps to raise vital funds to support our mission of providing compassionate end of life care to patients.
