Taunton Motor Museum opened by Richard Hammond

This morning Richard Hammond pulled up in North Street in a classic Porsche to open the new Taunton Motor Museum. The museum, in the former County Stores building, is the brainchild of owner Patrick Hawkins who has put his life savings into the venture. The museum opens to the public from tomorrow (21st November).

Apple FM’s Dave Charles went along to the press launch to get a taster of what awaits the public.  Also in attendance were Taunton Deane MP Rebecca Pow, Taunton Mayor Nick O’Donnell and Somerset Council chairman Mike Best. Richard Hammond arrived to a huge crowd and cut the ribbon.  Addressing the crowd outside he said “This is a museum, so yes it’s looking back into the past, but it also is very useful as we look into the future now. “The car, the subject of this museum, is undergoing significant change, and we all acknowledge has to and will do, but at the same time it will still provide the service it always has for us, which is move us around our lives and enable us to do everything we want to do.”
