Absentees for tired Taunton Town FC

Taunton play their fourth fixture in eight days when they make their first ever visit to Stratford Town in the Calor League this Afternoon (29 March) with the kick-off at 3.00pm. Town will be buoyed by their win over high-flying Cirencester Town yesterday evening for their encounter with the Warwickshire outfit who lie in 10th position, one place and two points above the Peacocks in the table having played equal games. The corresponding match in November at the Viridor Stadium saw Town notch one of their gutsiest results of the season, recovering from going a goal down and having goalkeeper Joe Perry sent off to win 2-1. However they will need to be wary of Stratford’s firepower, ably demonstrated by Tuesday’s 7-1 thumping of Thatcham, which has seen them score 84 league goals so far this season including 31 from the division’s top scorer Richard Gregory. The Peacocks travel up the M5 without Rob Norrish who is away and Josh Wadham who is ill, whilst Chris Young is missing after coming off early in the Cirencester game with a knee injury and Simon Ingram has not recovered from his hamstring pull. Manager Leigh Robinson commented: “We’re down to the bare bones for today so it will take a hell of an effort with the players we are missing plus the fact that we played on Thursday and Stratford did not. However by all accounts it’s a nice ground and a good pitch up there so we’ll express ourselves and hopefully take fatigue out the equation by taking chances that come our way.”
