Peter Trego signs Contract Extension

Pete Trego has signed an extension to his contract which will see him remaining at the County Ground until at least the end of the 2016 season.

Since making his first class debut for Somerset back in 2000 Pete has shown himself to be a genuine all rounder and in all first class cricket he has scored 7224 runs at an average of 32.98 with 11 centuries, including his career best of 140 against West Indies A in 2002 and taken 339 wickets at 35.55.

In List A matches Pete, who been awarded a well deserved benefit by the Club in 2015 has made 3329 runs at 30.54, as well as taking 146 wickets at 32.95, while in T20 he has scored 2849 runs at 24.56 and taken 75 wickets at 31.14.

Shortly after agreeing his new deal Pete said: “ I am absolutely delighted and the with the way that I have been playing, I think my consistency is improving year in year out

“I train hard in the gym and I am feeling really fit and strong. Actually I feel that at 33 years of age I haven’t hit my straps yet and I’m really excited for the next few years. I’m delighted that my skills will be on show with Somerset at the County Ground in Taunton.”

“I have seen Pete in action on a number of occasions both as a player and as an opposition coach so I know that he is a real team man and fiercely competitive.  Now I look forward to having him on my side!”
