Alfie Boe to play Vivary Park this summer

Organisers of Live in Somerset have today (Monday) announced that the legendary tenor, Alfie Boe, is confirmed for an appearance in Taunton this August.

Ever since he exploded onto the music scene nearly 20 years ago, Alfie Boe has racked up one extraordinary achievement after another, building a loyal audience on both sides of the Atlantic and rounding off a great Live in Somerset line-up for 2023.

Boe will be gracing the stage of Vivary Park on Sunday 27 August Bank Holiday, adding a fourth and final night to what is already set to be a great weekend of live music.

His rise to classical fame was anything but conventional – Boe grew up in a home where music was ever-present with his parents introducing all sorts of styles, from opera to country, rock ‘n’ roll to big band swing, pop to rhythm & blues.

From leading the cast of Les Misérables – which received a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theatre Album and three sold-out solo UK tours – performing in La Boheme and a spectacular orchestral version of the classic rock album Quadrophenia, Boe has always strived to bring great music to different audiences.

He now performs in some of the world’s greatest classical venues, but Alfie Boe also has the rare ability to bring together all sorts of music lovers.

He is a singer who transcends categories. “When I look at the crowd at my concerts,” he says, “I can see I’ve got Who fans, classical fans, musical theatre fans and jazz fans as well.”

Alfie also sold out two headline Vegas shows last summer and is due back there this April. He has also just completed three shows in Tokyo and is gearing up for an exciting year ahead of new music.

Boe has two UK Number 1 albums to his credit, sell-out tours, and not to mention his collaborations of Together and Together Again with his good friend and co-star Michael Ball, which combined have sold more than one million copies.

In 2019, he was awarded an OBE on the Queen’s Honours list – well-deserved honour following all Alfie has given to music and charity.

Alfie Boe will be joined by special guests on the night of his Somerset performance.

Claire Kidger of LCC Live said:
